Pulpotomy- Nerve Treatment

When tooth decay is close or has reached the nerve of the tooth, nerve treatment may be required.  The treatment of choice is a pulpotomy. In a pulpotomy procedure a portion of the tooth nerve is removed and a medicated dental material is placed inside the pulp (nerve) chamber.  After this procedure, it is then recommended to restore the tooth with a full-coverage restoration.  A stainless steel crown is typically placed after a pulpotomy treatment.
