Extraction

A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for variety of reasons including but not limited to:  tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable, the baby tooth is preventing the permanent tooth from errupting or the patient is affraid of wiggling the tooth during the normal exfoliating process. Tooth extractions may also be prescribed when the patient is in the process of having orthodontic (braces) treatment.  We understand that patients as well as parents may have a more significant fear when the extraction of a tooth is prescribed.  Our priority at Treasured Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is to make this type of appointments as pleasant as possible.  Therefore different techniques are used according to the patient's behavior assessment and parent understanding.   For more information you may contact our office at 571-293-0244
